Fiji Mission Trip
Wings of Freedom Ministries
Happy New Year!
Wow. . .2010 already! I trust you had a great time with family and friends in celebrating the birth of the Anointed One and that you welcomed in the New Year with enthusiasm!
In recent years we have been blessed by your support, both in fervent prayer and generous donations. It's because of your commitment that we have been able to remain faithful in fulfilling our calling to make disciples and set captives free, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We are extremely grateful for your investment in WINGS of Freedom. Thank you.
We have an exciting year of ministry opportunities for 2010! We're kicking-off the year by serving in Fiji. "Bula!" (Fijian greeting) The last time we were in Fiji (2006) I was honored with a Warrior Dance dedicated to me at First Landing in Lautoka.
We'll be flying out of LAX on Tuesday, January 5th. Upon arrival in the city of Nadi, on the Island of Viti Levu, we'll catch another plane to the Capitol City of Suva on the other side of the Island. While in Suva, we'll be speaking in a couple of Churches (Lami Gospel Brethren and Nadawa Assembly of God) during their Sunday Service and, throughout the week, meeting with several leaders of various ministries and training them in the FICM Discipleship-Counseling (Victorious Living) material as well as providing individual Freedom Appointments. We will be staying at Homes of Hope, a non-profit organization that ministers to women who have suffered through sexual trauma and abuse. Tuggy has been asked to help the leadership write curriculum that specifically addresses how to overcome this type of trauma and walk in victory as children of God. After wrapping-up our time in Suva, we'll take a long bus ride back to Nadi and train some leaders who minister primarily with Hindu Converts. Then on January 19th we'll hop on a plane back home to the States!
This ministry opportunity came about through our friend, Dr. Kenneth Greenlee, of Teach Us to Pray International. Ken has been working with this group of leaders for the past 5 years and has contacted us to partner with him in equipping them. We are honored and blessed to be working with these like-minded servant-leaders who have a hands-on, in the trenches, down & dirty approach to serving.
I want to take this time to express my extreme gratitude to those of you who have specifically given towards this South Pacific Event. Your partnership in compassion and vision is making it possible for this training to take place, and without having to use WINGS of Freedom funds designated for Indian Country. Blessings on you!
Please pray for safety. As you know travel has become more risky. Pray for our health; as I send this email I'm recovering from a cold. Pray that weather (it's cyclone season right now) and the political climate (coups are not uncommon in Fiji) would not be hindrances to us serving. Pray for favor and an instant rapport to be established with those we minister to. Pray for clarity of communication (verbal and non-verbal). Pray for wisdom, discernment and insight as we interact with each of those we minister to. Pray that a solid foundation will be set and lasting fruit will remain as a result of this initial training. Pray as we determine a long-term strategic plan, including subsequent visits. "Vinaka!" ("Thank You!" in Fijian)
Please pray specifically for these people:
- Ratu Osea Gavidi-Paramount Chief of 1/3 of the main island of Fiji. Ratu and his wife, along with a number of pastors, direct Spearhead and JC's Ministries.
- Peter Schulz-Director of Operation Foundation Prison Ministry.
- Talatala Tavita (David) Loga-Pastor of the Nadawa Assembly of God Church.
- John Samisoni-Businessman who has been of immeasurable help with the Global Days of Prayer over these past years as well as the slum outreaches.
- Talatala Paula Sotia-Director of the Namdi Women's/Youth Center.
- Patrick Bower-Director of Suva Christian School.
- Mark & Lynnie Roche-Directors of Homes of Hope which serves abused women.
Thanks again to all of you who love us and remember us in your time before The Throne. Thank you to each of you who are committed to partnering with us through your financial gifts as we make Disciples of all Nations in 2010!
Serving together,
Raymond & Tuggy
