Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels provides hot, nutritiously balanced meals delivered each weekday to elderly homebound persons. The volunteers are sometimes the only person checking on these lonely people. They just need to know someone cares and will bring a big smile or hug their way, as well as a hot meal.

Churches all over Huntsville help in delivering the 240 meals, with 22 - 44 volunteers working daily. Southside, other churches and businesses also help financially. Our team delivers 10 of the 22 routes on the first Wednesday of each month and when there is a fifth Wednesday. Each route services 12 people with two volunteers delivering the meal. We have 20 regular volunteers and 10 substitutes. Delivery starts at 10:30 am and last to 12:00 pm.
