God is Faithful

by Nahun and Belly Gil

It has been a long time without our newsletter! We apologize for that, but this has been a busy year in our lives as a family and the ministry, plus the problems with internet in La Azulita, Venezuela. It was very difficult to keep in touch as frequently as we wanted.

Our familyFirst of all we have to say that GOD IS FAITHFUL! He has been faithful to us during all this time. As a family the Lord has given us a precious girl. Nahybell is 20 months old. And she is a very special, healthy and gracious girl; right now she is with her daddy making time for me to be able to write this to you. The Lord Bless us again because I am pregnant! It is a girl. I am 32 weeks of pregnancy, oh yes!!!!, I am almost there, our second child will be born first days of March, her name is Nahomy. We have been learning to be a parent, and now it is our second time. We will be busier than ever, you can understand this is one of the reason of our silence all this time. Children can keep you apart from your computer and apart from many others things and activities. Pray for wisdom in managing our time.

We hope you remember in our last letter we ask for prayers about the opportunity to go to PERU as missionaries. We are thankful for these prayers, because we are already in PERU! Yes, we arrived here last week, after two years of prayers and looking for His will to us. We receive this calling from a Ministry called Impacto Cristiano, which have focus on Children and Youth especially. Nahun has been called to be a Youth pastor and I will be working with him as well. During these past two years we pray, decide and prepare this trip. And it takes time to make a decision like this, time and prayer, but here we are, and we are joyful and with peace in our hearts, sure that it is God will for us.

About La Azulita, it was one of the most difficult issues to resolve and leave, our little and Loved Church!!! It was hard to find a pastor to leader it, but the Lord provided in an amazing way. After we look in different places and different people, the Lord provided a man from the same Church. Yes, a godly man, Dario Lacruz, decided to accept the Lord's call, and he agree to be a pastor of this Church that will start at his home, is that not amazing?! He knows everybody, he understand their minds; the Church loved him and respected him before he became a pastor. He is a good Bible teacher, and he has a passion to obey and serve His Savior. He also is taking theological classes by internet, and he is learning a lot. PrayingDario assumed this ministry last July when Nahun had to travel to Peru for a month and a half to help with the arrangements for this year work. In October, we celebrated a special service where the pastors of the other Baptist churches of the Merida State joined us to officially present Dario as the new Pastor. All of them prayed for him and laid their hands on him in blessing. Since then, he has been the new pastor of the First Baptist Church in La Azulita.

What about us? Well, we talk with the church at the beginning of 2007, asking support and prayer in looking for a new pastor, and also we communicate our need to spend times out of town, making documents and arrangements for our future trip, passport, visa, and documents (which make us to be in Merida or in Caracas very often). We still lived in La Azulita but, we travel a lot. This situation put the church in a position which makes them to see the need to use their spirituals gifts. It was a new stage for the church where they need to see where they can help and serve. At this moment, we were very tired of doing every thing at the church. This church was born seeing us do all things: preaching, teaching, singing and playing instruments, leading worship, organizing special events. They were very comfortable being part of, but without responsibilities. It was hard for us, we were exhausted! When we decided to accept the calling to Peru and start all the movements to be ready for, we notified the church our decision and also we said the time when we expected to leave. It made a huge and very positive impact on the church! We think that our abilities inhibited theirs. When they realized that we were ready to leave at any time, they started to serve. Now they have musicians, worship leaders, teachers, and it is amazing how they responded to the new situation. Now the new pastor has alot of co-workers and they are growing and learning together; how to be a minister, every member involved in a ministry. We were able to see this change, and it make our eyes to cry of joy because GOD IS FAITHFUL.

They prepare a very special and emotional farewell for us on Christmas during our annual banquet. It was very special, and they organized and prepare every single thing, it was wonderful! We leave La Azulita with a bittersweet feeling, you know, but grateful for the church that will continue being light and salt for that town in Venezuelan mountains reaching the lost for Christ.

Being in PERU, well, here we are ready to start a new stage in our lives and we are very excited! We are part of a team. We will not be alone doing this new task, Chistian Impact has a vision to work with a team. We are waiting for the rest of our new family to arrive in Peru on February 24th. There are families and singles coming from different countries: Two families from Cuba; one family and a single girl from Venezuela; a family from Bolivia; a girl from Ecuador; another from Curacao. We will be like 30 people reaching youth and children who live in poverty. Where? In Chiclayo it is a city north of Peru close to the border with Ecuador, on the pacific side.

We have to come early because of my pregnancy. If I stay in Venezuela until the due date, I have to wait several months for a passport for the new baby. It would keep us there because the government is restricting passport for children. It was very hard and took like six months to get Nahybell`s Nahybellpassport. And we need to be here in Peru to start on March. Now you can see how necessary was to come early. We made the flight with no problem at all. We have already met my new doctor and talked about the place and due date. We will have a Peruvian baby!

You will be able to know more about this ministry through the internet, but the English version in still in progress. Nahun has to go back to Venezuela this January 31th, he has to finish some things there. We have a car accident last November and we were driving Nahun`s brother new car. Nobody was injured thank God, but the car suffered all the impact, no mechanics part were affected, only the outside part (I do not know words in English to explain very well.) We are waiting for the insurance company to cover the expenses but they are still waiting for the replacement parts. We want to return this car to Nahun`s brothers as he lent it to us. Nahun is going back to take care of this and to finish with little things of our move. We sell almost every thing that we have at home! We keep most of our books, this part is hard to do, having almost every thing you need then you sell and that`s all, you keep with clothing, books and pictures, and that is it! For me as a women that was hard, but now I can see more what we will have and how long will be our time in heaven. Does our possessions here compare to that? Not at all. Eternal issues are more important, our time here on earth is a glimpse compare with the eternity in heaven.

Please pray for:

  1. Nahun`s trip back to Venezuela
  2. Our adjustment time here in Chiclayo
  3. Health for the family, especially trying new foods
  4. Belly`s delivery time, for a quick and easy time of delivery
  5. The arrival of the rest of our team on February 24th
  6. Our new ministry here
  7. Cruz de la Esperanza , the community where we will be reaching children and youth for Christ

Once again, thanks for your prayers and friendship trough the distance and even our absence. We will keep in touch. Here we are able to have internet at home, we will have it as soon as possible, we have to get a computer first.

Hugs with all our love,

In His service,

Nahun, Belly y Nahybell
